February 2026 Updates
February was a big one. Four major releases, each tackling a different part of how you run your business — from planning your week to opening up your data to the tools you already use.
Here's what shipped.
Tasks
This is the headline feature of the month. Expensicat now has a full task management system built right into your workspace.
- Weekly planner with day columns and drag-and-drop scheduling
- Subtasks that you can reorder, complete individually, or close all at once by completing the parent
- Time tracking on any task — start a timer, see tracked hours per team member
- File attachments — drop PDFs, images, or documents onto a task (up to 10 files, 10 MB each)
- Automatic tasks — Expensicat creates follow-ups for you when an invoice goes overdue or a bank connection is about to expire
No more jumping between your finance tool and a project management app. Your to-dos live where your money does.
Developer Platform
We opened the doors for integrations. Expensicat is now a platform you can build on.
- OAuth2 with a consent screen and granular scope control — third-party apps request exactly the access they need
- MCP server — connect AI assistants like Claude directly to your workspace and let them query expenses, create invoices, pull metrics
- REST API & SDK covering transactions, invoices, customers, projects, bank accounts, categories, time entries, documents, and recurring invoices
- Organizations with invitations, approvals, and role-based access
- Multi-factor authentication for an extra layer of account security
Whether you're connecting your own tools, building automations, or letting an AI handle the grunt work — it's all possible now.
Smarter Tables
Every data table in Expensicat got a redesign.
- Pinned columns — the checkbox and date stick to the left edge as you scroll through wide tables
- Scroll navigation arrows for quick panning without a trackpad
- Column visibility toggle — show or hide columns to focus on what matters
- Consistent borders, hover states, and selection behavior everywhere — transactions, invoices, customers, projects
Tables on mobile scroll horizontally now too, with pinned columns staying put. No more losing context on a smaller screen.
Recurring Transaction Detection
Your bank feed now automatically flags recurring transactions. Subscriptions, retainers, fixed costs — they're all identified and grouped so you can see your committed spend at a glance.
Pair this with the AI assistant, which can now answer questions like "how much do I spend on software subscriptions?" or "what's my average monthly burn rate?" across any time range.
Everything Else
A few more things that landed this month:
- Dashboard widgets show richer insights instead of raw numbers, with layouts that persist across sessions
- Document preview improvements and a refreshed file browser
- New Inter Variable font, updated logo, and cleaner sidebar icons
- Mobile menu refinements — better icon alignment, smoother transitions, responsive notification popover
- Reliability fixes for bank sync, scheduled invoices, and authentication flows
- Performance improvements across the board — faster page loads, snappier navigation
That's February. A month where Expensicat went from a finance tool to a finance platform — with task management, developer APIs, and the kind of polish that makes daily use feel effortless. March is shaping up to be just as packed.
